Is There A Link Between Black Coffee Drinkers And Psychopaths?

I have never understood how some people can drink their coffee black. It just tastes so bitter and acidic, and takes all of the enjoyment out of drinking it! And interestingly enough, one study even revealed that people who drink their coffee black are more likely to be psychopaths.

A study conducted by the University of Innsbruck in Austria discovered that people who enjoy bitter food and drinks (such as black coffee) are positively associated with traits such as psychopathy and everyday sadism (someone who actively seeks to cause pain). The study questioned 953 people about their food preferences. The research conductors also asked participants questions related to traits such as narcissism, psychopathy, Machivellianism, and the “Big Five” personality factors.

Researchers found that participants who liked bitter tastes (black coffee, beer, celery, radishes) were linked to having malevolent traits and were more likely to engage in everyday sadism. Meanwhile, participants who enjoyed sweeter tastes were more likely to be more agreeable. So, the real question is, how do you take your coffee?

If you enjoy drinking black coffee, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re a psychopath. However, if you know someone who only seems to enjoy the most bitter foods and drinks, you might just want to be a little wary of them!
